Sold with four filters per box. For optimum performance, replace filter every 2 to 3 months. Great product, but not eco friendly I bought a whirlpool air purifier years ago. The original filter and replacements were thin sheets back then. This one was much thicker; allowing it to capture more of the larger particulate matter (i.e. dust and dog hair).Although the air purifier works really well in the room I have it in, I really dislike the fact that Whirlpool doesn't make something that is washable. The instructions suggest that after these filters are dirty that they be tossed and replaced. They don't recommend washing them. I suppose it's an assurance of a steady income, but it's not eco friendly. I have another purifier by another manufacturer and they have a washable pre-filter (like so many other manufacturer's). To make them last a little longer I use my dyson vacuum to clean them off.
