This unit fits neatly alongside the desk (or nightstand in the bedroom) and isn't obtrusive. It's much smaller than other "medium room" purifiers I've seen in stores. 2. Easy filter changes. Replacing the filter really couldn't be easier unless someone else did it for me. Click open the back, remove the old filter, pop in the new one, click the back closed. Done. 3. My choice of filters. I really like that Holmes Group makes different filters that fit their units. I don't have to buy a different unit if I move into an area with more allergens, or want smoke filtration - I just buy the appropriate filter. 4. Ionizer is optional. Filter So, far I love this air filter, and for some reason I love the shape of it. It actually looks nice where it sits. It is pretty quiet even set on three and I like being able to adjust the level. As with any air filter I am not positive it is doing everything it is claimed to be able to do, but it seems like it is working. I have it next to my bed where I sleep and read, and I find it soothing to hear and have on. It is small so a big room would require two I think. I also like the filter change indicator so hopefully that works when the filter needs changing or cleaning. This is an excellent filter for the price and my only complaint is it could use a bit longer cord.

Holmes Air Purifier The Holmes HEPA-Type filter appears to work just as advertised. We've always run one or more of these air purifiers since they were first introduced, as everyone in our house suffers from seasonal allergies, but what's more, they appear to work well to reduce the amount of dust that builds up in our home. The Holmes is similar to other models from other companies, and operates smoothly and quietly. Unfortunately, there are two things that prevent me from a 5-star rating, and they both are things that other similarly priced models from other companies can do that the Holmes machine cannot. The first is a side-to-side oscillation, which is certainly not required, but is a nice option for a larger room. The other thing I would have liked to see is a permanent filter. Some people might like the idea of not having to clean their model's filter, and just to go ahead and replace it, but I think that's a bit of a money sink.
