I purchased the 3M Air Cleaner (12x18 room size) for home use based on a reference from a colleague who uses the product in the office. Overall it seems to be a good product, does the job, and is very quiet especially on the low setting. The only complaint is the apparent energy usage. I was running the purifier everyday (24 hours) without considering the effect. I was shocked that my electric bill was significantly increased ($40 increase in one month). I discussed the matter with the power company, and in comparing all factors, the only difference between this month and previous months (including previous summer months) is the use of this purifier product. I can't locate the wattage on the product anywhere and will need to check the documentation (the power company has a handily calculator for estimating any increases in costs based on the wattage of a product). I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost; the $40 increase in electric bill for a single month seems excessive.

Had been using a generic Merv 11 and had to change them MONTHLY to try to hold asthmatic issues at bay. Sometimes this worked, other times during the year it did not. Had been chastised by my furnace guy that to use a higher Merv would cause the furnace to work harder. So far, using this filter has not been the case. When first installed the Ultra Allergen I was sneezing, with watery eyes and stuffy nose etc, etc, etc. This stopped several days later. I have now had them installed for over a month, and see no reason to replace them at this time. I plan however, to change them every eight weeks vs the twelve weeks as a guideline. Definitely worth a try if you have asthma or if you are experiencing other breathing issues. I also recognize that this filter is not a sole fix for these health issues, but only one part in getting better air quality within your home.

See Products Related To Filtrete 1250 Ultra Allergen Filter by 3M (4 Pack): 3M Meets the American Lung Association Health House Indoor Air Quality Guidelines. Captures: 90% of large allergens - like mold spores and pet dander - from the air passing through the filter; microscopic allergens like dust, smoke and smog particles; and bacteria and particles that can carry viruses. No unnecessary antimicrobial chemicals added. Filtrete filtering material will not support the growth of bacteria, mold, mildew or fungi in normal use. Filtrete has recently changed packaging. You may receive either 1250/1500 Ultra or 1500 Advanced Allergen. Excellent Air Filter Because of the savings that I recieved from purchasing this filter through amazon instead of at a big box store, I purchased a better filter then I would have normally. Big difference in the quality of my residential air conditioning, a noticeable less amount of dust and particles in the air. Highly recommended!

Five Stars Great item.
