The included filter mine was the HEPA-type black one. I just put in the AER1 Allergen green filter and it is true HEPA. I've had the black filter in for about 5 years, constantly cleaning it about every half year. So, in fact, it is kind of reusable. The other brands reusable filter is not HEPA. I've always had allergies year round due to pine and grass allergy so I keep the windows closed at all times. Whenever I have to open the window to air out my room, I will automatically have a stuffy nose the next day. I've had countless Sharper Image Ion air cleaners and even a Radio Shack negative ion machine throughout the years- they work marginally. This Holmes HAP92410 I bought at Target because it is a beautiful unit and I believe it was on sale. The unit is designed like an Apple product with little mounds of plastic for feet in both horizontal and vertical position. I use it at full setting during the day and turn it off or on low at night. | See Products Related To Holmes HEPA-Type Desktop Air Purifier with 3 Speeds and Quiet Operation, HAP9240: Holmes The Holmes HEPA-Type Desktop Air Purifier has a compact design that will fit nicely into small spaces, such as an office or nursery. Highly effective in cleaning the indoor air, it is quiet and easy to operate. Recommended for small rooms, up to 100 sq ft. Model # HAP9240-TUGreat I have had this purifier in our three year old's nursery since she was under a year and we decided she could benefit from some white noise. I felt if I was running something for noise all night it might as well be doing something beneficial like cleaning the air!! It's very easy to maintain I buy a pack of replacement filters and replace every four months even though really it could go longer, but I error on the side of cleanliness. Other than that I just vacuum it down quick every few days when I vacuum her room. I keep it on low pretty much all day then kick it to high when she sleeps. Never had a problem with it. Her room is virtually dust free (even in dusty Arizona where we live). It always amazes me how much cleaner her room is than any other room in our home as far as dust goes... When we have another child this unit will be placed in their room as well! Perfect small size air cleaner you won't be disappointed! |
