I've had the 5500 purifier for about two years now and I am here to explain that the "washable" feature of up to six times for this filter is just a lie. After two washes, filter started to fall apart at edges, inside ridges of filter spread open in certain spots, not as holes but instead of staying in proper form of zig zag on the filter, some areas from handling and water drying after wash became spread open and stayed like that permanent. My suggestion is to go with the disposable filters and buy the 5300 model as also the filters are cheaper and no worries to wash, just use for one year and throw it out.
