The SpaceGard system requires a filter element with 31 pleats. This unit has only 29. Thus (2) of the 31 'fingers' of each of the system's spacers must be 'doubled up' into one pleat, expanding that pleat too far and causing a tear in the filter media. Also, this filter uses glue to set the spacing of the media rather than string as used by others. The glued point at each of the 29 pleats can be easily separated (torn apart) during installation, thus improperly spacing the pleats. NOT a good unit. Lastly, when the mfgr (BestAirPro) was contacted with the above, there was no response.

He also replaces the filter, and I have to pay 60 bucks for the filter, since consumables are not included. I just checked to see if these filters had to be that expensive, and found out - thanks, Amazon! - they don't! Even if this filter is a generic one, compared to the "real item", it works just the same. Perk: you can have 3 fresh ones for the price of 1 of the "authentic" kind. Since filters are better when fresh, it is a no-brainer: I buy the ones for 20 bucks a piece and replace them every 2 months, instead of every 6. Bingo, I win!
