Just for back up
I purchased an Oreck Professional air cleaner, and it has been the best air cleaner I have ever had. Initially when I received it and had to clean it for the first time, I was not happy. Its not the easiest to clean. (Especially if you are a smoker)
Upon researching, I found, of coarse Orecks Cell cleaner for a ridiculous price. I started digging into other's reviews on their product.
I have found purchasing couple bottles of some good old fashion Rubbing Alcohol to be the best cleaner imaginable.
I have a bin, about the same size as the Cell, I fill it with the Alcohol and let it sit for a little bit. Pull it out, rub a couple Q-tips along it, rinse it off and BOOM back in business with an almost as clean as new Cell but for only a couple dollars to clean. (I buy the alcohol at the dollar store.) I am purchasing this as a back up as I am also purchasing another Oreck Professional Air Cleaner.

Cleaning Suggestions
I found an alternative to cleaning a Oreck XL Professional Desktop Air Purifier using a Truman Cell. Instead cleaning the Oreck unit and the Truman Cell with Oreck's overpriced and expensive solution, or even sub-par method of soap and water. Consider using a degreaser solution such as LA's Totally Awesome: All purpose concentrated cleaner and degreaser that costs $1. I bought a Oreck XL Professional Desktop Air Purifier model: AIR7B with silence technology for $2.98 at a Used Amvet's Store. It was covered in sticky tar and carbon soot. I know the owner never cleaned it. Plugging it in while dirt all it did was run and making continual popping noise. I cleaned it well using soap and water and vacuumed the thing with the brush attachment. Thought I did a good job, until using the degreaser I listed above. I made it look new, so I thought. Until after running it, until thinking I probably could still clean it took the whole unit after removing a cleaned Truman Cell and saturated the...
