It runs fairly quietly and produces a "clean air" smell. It seems to remove odors rapidly and has a soft blue backlight that stays lit when the unit is turned on. The unit has two power modes. On high, the fan and ultra violet light are both turn on. On low, only the ultra violet light is turned on. We have this running in the lower level of our house, slightly over 1000 ft2. the unit seems to be sufficient for an open area of this size. The seller's customer service team is great. I thought the unit I received originally was defective. I sent it back to them. They tested it and said everything worked as it should. None the less, they sent me a brand new replacement unit. I would buy from they again in a second.
