The unit is large but powerful. I have it in my bedroom and I constantly have it running on low. If I turn it on the highest speed, I can't hear myself think, the middle speed is better but I still don't think I could sleep with it on that speed, but the low speed produces a nice amount of "white noise" to drown out the next door neighbor's music. I believe to get the "true" advertised cleaning efficiency, the unit needs to be running on the highest speed. That being said, I'd say it was a good unit, but the expense of the filters is a big negative for me. First off, I replace my pre-filter once a month.
