Handy reusable foam filter material
I repair and build my own computers and use this for fan filters. I double up the thickness to stop smaller particles. I put in on all my computer air intake areas to keep dirt out of my machine. When it starts getting dirty, you can vacuum it if you have it retained with a frame or remove it and hand wash and dry it. You can reuse it many times. I have used this for many filter uses and it works great.

GE® Smartaire cut-to-fit foam pre-filter, fits GE® Smartaire models 106633, 106643, and 106653, as well as Holmes® models HAP-615 & HAP615. This foam makes 2 filters and extends the life of HEPA & carbon filters. The Pre-filter also removes large particulates from the air and measures approximately 15 1/2 x 20 1/2 x 1/4. I'm Disappointed
Well this was a disappointment. I purchased this as filter material for my computer and the mesh isn't going to catch much dust.

Oh it'll do fine for pet hair or insects..?..But holding it to a light I see that dust less than the size of sand will not be filtered. There are gaps the end of a ballpoint can fit through.

There isn't as much as I'd imagined either but just enough to double it for what I needed it for. I did this by duct taping around the edges.

On the bright side it won't restrict air flow much either...But I purchased it thinking it would filter dust and it really won't filter as well as I'd like.

There's always the Silverstone Tek filters I do like.

I own several window AC units and I'd feel the same about using it for them, it's not as fine a mesh as my OEM filters. For my room air filters I use a carbon...
