My old unit was getting too much dust into the coil, I wanted to prevent this on my new unit. I purchased an adjustable filter at Home Depot and sized it to fit my A/C. The "original" ECOFilter that I first purchased at HD needed a replacement inner pad and being a reusable filter it catches a LOT of dust. The only drawback of this type of filter is that you must clean it religiously or you will get the dust pulled into the inner filter and have a hard time getting it out. When I cleaned mine I had to take it apart and hit it with a hose pretty hard. after about a year I had to replace it's inner layer, and this replacement was on amazon for purchase. I ordered it and cut it to fit. Now I clean mine a little more often than I did when I originally purchased the filter. It's holding up well so far and no complaints about it yet. I also use a regular pleated 'pre-filter' just below this one

Excellent Product But It Is Not An Inch Thick, More Like 3/4 Inch, See Picture This is perfect for RVers and replacing the overhead filters in AC units. I toss mine in the washing machine by themselves on gentle low water and they come out like new again. They can be used over and over. Because I use Ozium, to keep my RV fresh smelling at all times, it creates minute dust which clogs my filters. But being able to wash and re-use these over and over is a huge bonus. If you want to save money while enjoying super clean filters all the time in your RV (or home) then this is the product for you. Ironically, I get exactly 4 filters out of each package. I use 2 at a time in my overhead AC unit and this keeps the unit clean. Wheee!

Great value and can be washed/reused. These filters are awesome. A good compromise between filtration, air flow, and life. They can be gently washed and reused. Just don't wring them out... lay in a sink.. spray from the back side with some warm soapy water, then led them drip dry. About 1/2" thick. NOT made out of fiberglass. These can get damp (if you have a drippy AC unit), and STILL work. Periodically, I soak them in warm water with white vinegar, just to sanitize them.
