The name made me think this is going to be a big unit, but that's not what that company meant. It has pure sucking power in a small foot print. I read other reviews and I don't agree at high volume that it's so loud. It's noisier but, it doesn't sound like anything like a vacuum cleaner by a long shot. It's not THAT loud at all. It's very tolerable at high speed and I use the high speed settings for my garage where it does filter cigarette smoke, carbon monoxide, paint fumes, and saw dust up. I have it mounted high up on a made shelf unit where the garage is used for painting and some wood cutting. I also use timers to shut it off after 10PM and it work flawlessly as does the remote at a very comfortable 10 foot distance where I sit down by my garage door to smoke.
