I found that this product seems to be useful for dispersing a mildew-y smell in a small room (8x9 feet), but it is utterly useless against even the smell of cooking. I can't imagine it would even begin to affect the smells from a cigarette. I would recommend this as maybe a bathroom addition, but only because I paid less than $15 for it. Any more, and I would recommend that you try something else.
