I have allergies and have recently developed asthma, so when I got these units installed about 8 years ago, I had a HEPA filter added as an extension to each of the indoor units to help filter any allergens in the house. This product is a replacement filter for these HEPA filters on my central air conditioning units. There is two ways that you can buy the replacement filters - first, you can buy the entire unit which means that you are buying the entire plastic casing with the accordion-like filter already installed in it. This plastic casing is black and made of thick plastic with a handle that allows for you to easily pull out the entire filter from the unit for maintenance or replacement.
