I received the unit and had the exact same problem and had to return it to Amazon (who are Amazing by the way, they had a new one out to me next day). I followed the instructions, did everything right and this 2nd one wouldn't power on either. It was very frustrating. I couldn't believe that so many units would be this defective. Then I figured out the problem... The unit will not power on if the filter is not in place. The problem though is that you can put the filter in correctly, perfectly lined up, the back will close right and click shut and everything, but if the switch or whatever it is that registers that the filter is there isn't hit right, then the unit doesn't realize that the filter is in place and won't power up. This is a frustrating design flaw because the back shouldn't click closed... |

Prescriptions also don't work so now I've resorted to saline spray and finding an air purifier so that I can at least breathe in my own home! After reviewing many purifiers and testing a few on my own, I found Oransi v-hepa Finn Air Purifier to do the job. It has three settings and a timer. It's not a very big purifier but the fan noise somehow is loud. If the decibel level of the fan is an indication of sucking allergens then it must be working because I can breathe in the bedroom while it churns its fans to suck all the pollen that float about the room. My sneezing subsides and the itchy eyes stop twitching. Anyone who suffers major allergies should invest in Oransi. Compared to all the other models out there, the price is fair for the job that it does. It supposedly covers at least 400 square feet of space but I think that's generous. Try 200-250 square feet.
