Honeywell makes the 50250 which is bigger (too big for my room), and "certified" anti-allergy purifiers easily costs $500 or more. For me, an active and healthy adult, this purifier has made a night-and-day difference sleep-quality wise. Living in the middle of Manhattan, I blamed waking up in the middle of the night on traffic, fire engines, car alarms, noisy people, etc., but since I have this purifier in the bed room, I sleep all night through, and wake up rested. Interestingly, I don't have allergy related symptoms, such as runny nose, itchy eyes etc., but had severe hay fever as a child. For people who think white noise, this purifier is virtually silent on setting I (night setting), and works on II during the day. There is a III that is probably overkill. Recommend This replaced the tower fan in my room. It is more powerful and outputs filtered air. My allergies have drastically decreased since putting this in my fairly unhygienic home (shared with college kids). It is fairly loud in its medium/large output settings, but I typically enjoy it for it helps me fall asleep being able to drown out other sounds of the house. The low setting is fairly quiet and will do its job just fine if you just have it for air filtration and don't need it to cool the room.
