I require use of a CPAP device to properly breathe at night. First, I had the surgery, but the surgery was a failure in correcting my condition. Once I got used to a CPAP, (and finding the appropriate mask took three physicians and a full year, but that is a story for another venue). My CPAP works well, but I need to use a full face mask unit. And a full face mask tends to increase bacterial/viral build up in the hose beyond the mask. Microbe growth is accelerated by use of the humidifier tank (those microbes grow considerably faster in moist environments). So besides cleaning the face mask each day, I need to hang and clean the hose assembly. It is easy to disassemble and hang the hose to dry when needed, but cleaning the hose is far more difficult. Furthermore, insurance does NOT cover the cost of Inline filters as they don't consider them a Medical necessity (yet a small Air intake filter is covered by insurance to protected the pump on the CPAP machine).
