Very effective filter - this is our third one / third year using these and they absoutely do as claimed. Each lasts one year (we change them slightly before since our unit is on constantly) and for only $25-$30 it's really a bargain. We have the smaller Fellowes unit for our 14x15 bedroom and it's a great size, gives off a slight and actually soothing noise (we can't sleep without it on now - lol!) and traps even the tiniest of particles. When we clean this off every 2 weeks or so we are amazed at the amount of junk it pulls in from the air. We have a pet and this really does help with pet hair too, the room that it's in is noticeably fresher/cleaner than the other rooms. We gently clean this off every few weeks with the nozzle of our small vacum, just go very carefully as not to damage the folds, but it's very easy to clean (you are replacing the carbon filters in front of that every 3 months or so, so that's what will catch most of the stuff.)
