Discontinued
This has been an excellent air filter system for me. I have used it everyday for about one year and have not replaced the bulb. I am upset that this model is been discontinued.

We bought this bulb for an older model HB air purifier that was discontinued ages ago but still runs. Decided to stretch its use a little longer so we got new filters and prefilters and this new bulb. It has been a month running nonstop, and no problems with the UV bulb as far as we can tell.

Ours came from Allergy Be Gone, and as I write this review a different vendor name appears atop my screen. Shoppers should note -- with marketplace products you should read the product reviews AND the seller feedback both, as they are two separate topics. Here I am only reviewing the product itself, which is how it is supposed to work.

Years ago, I heard people dismiss the Hamilton Beach system, saying that UV light will only kill germs that are "bathed" in it (meaning they sit in the UV light for a while, rather than flying past quickly, the way they do in a fan-driven air cleaner).
