The smell was gone like a minute after I turned it on. I was expecting it to take a lot longer. When I opened the box, I noticed that this gadget comes in something like a drawstring dust bag. Very nice. You actually have to remove the bottom part completely in order to be able to plug the cable. Once you plug the cable, you put the black bottom part back on and you are ready to plug it into your USB adapter. The first thing you notice when you turn it on is a very nice, clean smell. The only thing I can compare it to is going into a brand new hotel. It's clean, unused, and nice. I loved it.
