This makes pollution manageable (and I know pollution)
I live in Shanghai (PM2.5 goes over 300), and this has made a huge difference in my quality of life. This air purifier is quiet and small, but very effective. I used to wake up with a sore throat every morning due to the pollution here, but since getting this I've had no such problems. It's even helped keep my skin looking good, since bad air can take a toll even with a good routine. I usually turn the purifier on 3 (loud) when I first get home and keep it there for about 10-20 minutes before turning it to Auto. On bad air days, I keep it on 2 (pretty quiet). I turn it on 1 (very quiet) before going to bed, since the shifts of Auto can be slightly disruptive if you're a light sleeper.

Overall, it's made a huge difference in my sore throats and skin. China's pollution isn't so scary if you have something like this to keep you a little bit safer.

4 Stage Filtration
Compact Size, Mighty Power.

The Mighty Air Purifier is compact by design, but is equipped with cutting edge features to keep your indoor air clean. Equipped with a HEPA efficiency rating of 99.97%, it uses a four-stage filtration system to effectively eliminate odors and pollutants. This mighty machine includes an air quality indicator through our particle sensing technology that will kick your air purifier into high gear when needed. And when 30 minutes when pollution is not detected for 30 minutes, the fan will automatically stop to save energy.

Smart Technology

The fan automatically adjusts the airflow when pollutants are detected in the air, providing peace of mind that indoor air quality is always being monitored.

Air Quality Indicator

The intuitive Air Quality Indicator uses particle sensor technology to monitor the indoor air quality, and responds with a vivid color change to show the air condition.

Filter Change Indicator

When it’s time to change the filter, the Coway Filter Change Indicator will light up; ensuring clean air is always circulating. Expect to change the Carbon filter approximately every 6 months and the HEPA filter annually.

#2 Ranked Air Purifier in 2014
No.1 Air Purifier in 2014 is Alen BreatheSmart but is out of my budget ($600).
I researched air purifiers and I almost go for Winix Freshome. CADR Scores (Clean Air Delivery Rate): 298 / 291 / 343 (Dust / Smoke / Pollen) but the the ionizer is a health risk for sensitive users, and without the ionizer is not so good. What is the point?
I love the design in my Coway (easy to clean and easy to change filters). Quiet except on the highest level.
The Coway offers excellent filtration without consuming much energy. I notice the difference immediately.
I am going to buy a second unit.
A fine air purifier for the price
For the last 3 years, I've owned a RabbitAir MinusA2, and it's dramatically improved the air quality in my apartment, all but eliminating the old building's musty odor. I received the Coway air purifier to review, so I'll attempt to compare the two. I don't have any basis for measuring performance, so I'll focus on features and aesthetics.

The Coway features 3 layers of filters: a washable pre-filter (for dust and hair), a carbon odor filter, and a HEPA filter for tiny particles. That's a good, minimal design for high-quality air filtration. The RabbitAir has all of those plus two more: a "medium" filter between the pre-filter and the HEPA, and a "custom" filter tailored toward whatever type of microparticle you're most worried about. I'd say that anything beyond HEPA + carbon filtration is overkill, but those with certain allergies may disagree. If that's you, take a close look at RabbitAir's custom filters.

Both the Coway and the RabbitAir can...
