The ambient particles down to .5 microns was measured at roughly 550 and the air coming directly out of the unit was only able to get the particle count down to about 200. That is a 64% reduction but a HEPA filter should be able to get to around a 98% reduction. I have confirmed that other HEPA filters do indeed achieve this standard (including the Friedrich AP260 and Holmes HAP9726B-U). I recommend getting a Dylos if you really care about how much particulate pollution is in your living/working space. It is the only way to know that a filter like this isn't performing as it claims. They do seem to help with smells (we first got one post-dog) and keep down dust a bit. They are not miracle workers. Pros: -Filter is easy to get to and change, and cover snaps back in easily. -Can be used horizontal or vertical, but there are a few pieces you need for a horizontal use (some feet to keep vibration noise down, and a cover for when you remove the vertical stand). Kind of annoying that you have pieces to "not lose" whichever way you use it, in case you want to switch later. -Sleep setting is still hearable, but def quiet enough. Very light white noise.
