Works for Model 17007-HD, but orginal filter was much better
I purchased this Honeywell replacement filter model HRF-D1 to replace the original Honeywell model 20500 filter in my Honeywell 17007-HD. Note that two (2) Honeywell HRF-D1 filters are needed to replace the one original model 20500 filter that came with the 17007-HD. Unfortunately, Honeywell no longer makes the 20500 filter.

You can either use two Honeywell HRF-D1 filters that sit side-by-side in the unit or buy a 20500 OEM single filter. I've not tried a 20500 OEM single filter (also sometimes called a i205 filter), but per reviews on Amazon, the results are very mixed as to whether the filter fits properly, quality of the filter, delivery time, condition of the packing/filter when received from the shipper, etc. What I have tried is using the two Honeywell HRF-D1 filters. Poor filter
I have a model 50100 Honeywell air cleaner. It uses one of these filters which is woefully too short. They supply a gasket as a spacer to make up the difference which has absolutely no filtering capability. There's now about a 35% loss in air filtering capacity as compared to the original filter. It also gets dirty faster.

Honeywell has sold thousands of these large filter units that now must be downsized to these short filters. It's obvious to me that reducing the number of filter types in their inventory is more important than a properly functioning air system.

I have vacuumed this filter as they recommend, and I see very little effectiveness in that. There is a metal screen that prevents my vacuum nozzle from getting anywhere near the filter fabric, so it does not clean the filter as they say.

I have a perfectly fine functioning unit for which I paid $85.00 that is now useless! I now have to buy a new unit, and it most definitely will not be another...
short filter with a spacer and smells
This filter is shorter than the original so they provide a cheap foam spacer to make up the missing area. It also has a bad smell due to some sort of oily solvent on the black rubber sealing surfaces. I will never buy anything from Honeywell again.
