How to Clean and Reuse Put your used/black filters in a sealed container containing 90% Alcohol (Isopropol) and let them sit for a day or two. Shake it up once or twice a day and they come out clean as new. I pour out the gross liquid in a strainer and let them dry for an hour or so in the sun and I've been able to use them over and over. You don't need to disassemble them. That's my experience anyway.
