My wife and I live in GA, where pollen and every other allergen in the world are plentiful. Our allergies go crazy several times a year and every time a buy a filter for the AC, we pray it will help our sneezing and general misery of allergy season. Started using these filters a few months ago, replacing one of the overpriced hypoallergenic filters sold at the grocery store. While the allergies aren't gone (as I can't avoid going outside forever), they don't bother us inside the house nearly as much anymore!! Why make the edges so thin? I used this in a brand new Trane super efficient furnace, but I doubt it will stay on the filter bracket for long. I dropped the first one into the plenum when I thought it was "there". It wasn't. I think the second try may work...it's in there, but due to the thinness of the edge of the filter, it sets about 3/8" (10 mm) low, and doesn't make a seal with the base of the blower section. I'm hoping the suction will pull it up to seal, but when it settles back down when the blower shuts off, will it still be on the filter slide brackets? Ordering traditional type filters now.
